All --
During this COVID-19 - or "Coronavirus"- outbreak of 2020, please take care of yourselves, your family, and each other.
We enjoy having you here, and thanks for making us part of your guitar journey.
Thinking of you all, and best regards,

Thank you John. I echo those sentiments but would urge folks not to panic and remember that this is most likely an influenza type of virus, and these little critters seem to specialise in the old and otherwise infirm, except that now they have a fertile breeding ground called (social?) media. This is not complacency, just trying to keep a clear head. We can beat this thing with care and vigilance.

Hi All, just a shout out hoping everyone is well and healthy. Everything is good with me and mine and I'm still at work cause we've been deemed essential. Thinking of you all and checking in daily.
Peace

I hope everyone is doing well over this virus stuff.
I know like a lot of people we here in Alabama, are in shut down mode. We are staying busy around my brothers house, doing things that he has been wanting to get done. So, that has become my new hobby for now. LOL! We are still trying to find a place to call home. But hardly anyone is responding back to us. So it makes it hard to find a place. I hope in another couple of weeks things will start to ease up.
I have no guitar projects with me. Everything is in storage. But there is so much going on around my brother house as far as house projects, I don't know if I would have time to work on any guitars. HA!
I just learned the other day that one of my friends has the virus and he will be in the hospital for at least another week. I pray that he pulls through. He is one of my guitar buddy's from AZ.
Again I do hope that everyone is doing well. Please keep safe and be at peace.

Fine here John, all of my family everywhere are fine. I hope all is well with yours as well.
The hardware store where I work was deemed essential so I haven't missed a day. In fact it's been very busy.

We're all doing fine over here, but I know of fairly close associates that have succumbed. Best beloved works in an operating theatre as an anaesthetics technician (not an anaesthetist) and one of her colleagues caught it during the one week at the beginning of all this when BB was self isolating, and she was ventilated in an induced coma for around ten days. Happily she survived. Still another of her colleagues contracted it and sadly took it home to her COPD husband. He inevitably contracted it and was admitted to hospital and being denied visiting facilities, the lady never saw him again. So very sad for her. We watched the on-line funeral service for him. The thing is, he was a stout and hardy Scotsman and despite being denied ventilation due to the COPD, he showed temporary signs of recovery, and so the lady applied for leave to nurse him upon expected discharge. This request was denied by her "manager".
The disgust this engendered in Best Beloved tipped the balance and she promptly served notice of retirement. She was 65 on Sunday and you have to call it a day at some stage, but her staunch belief in the basic inherent good of others was shattered by this display of lack of compassion. After 42 years service too! Reading between the lines she will be sorely missed at work. Unfortunately, she is required by contract to give two months of notice and typically she has honoured that requirement right through the worst period to be employed at a hospital. Especially since she has an immune system deficiency due to historical chemotherapy for breast cancer, thyroid issues and also hyper tension meds. If it was me I'd have blown 'em out there and then. Life does indeed suck occasionally, but she can hold her head high for her past commitment in The NHS.
I guess the strong moral in this wordy tale here is for goodness sake's take no risks folks.

Very sad story Steve. Awful to see this lack of compassion from medical pros. But you wife has taken the high road. Blessings on her and her work!

We are doing well too! We are pretty much settled into our new Place here in Alabama. Some people we know have had the virus. They did survive.
I am sad for all the people that have not survived. Mostly for their family and friends. For me life has been pretty much the same as it was before this virus. I stay home a lot. Go out only when we really need to.
The nice thing right now is doing that neck refret job. It's been a god send for me. Gave me something to look forwarded to.
But I am so glad that you all are doing well. I hope that people can now get back to work and support themselves. Wow, it's been hard on so many.
Blessing to all! Eddie (Eagle Blues)

An update regarding the lady that lost her husband; her daughter came round to "visit" and spoke to her mother from the car while she stayed at her front door. An unknown "neighbour" reported this to the police who promptly came round. The lady explained that she had just lost her husband and the woman police constable looked her up and down and said "you look alright to me". Her daughter got out of the car and made a note of the officer's number. She is now the subject of a complaint. Caveat- this is all second hand and so to some extent hearsay, but hey these are strange times we're living through so all bets are off.
As always- stay safe folks and especially folk like you Dane enduring daily interaction with "The General Public" ...

Thanks for your concern Steve. I am in daily contact with the public but I look alright to me. Strange times indeed.

You look OK to me too Dane, but that's a measure of the success of this virus. All colds and flu related viruses in fact- no one sees it coming. I maintain that the cold virus (of which I believe there are about 200 known strains) are most infectious before the symptoms are manifest. When you're young you contract maybe several each year, and as you advance you encounter fewer and fewer that you have not yet built up any immunity to. As usual- it's the last one that gets you!
I have pasted the following from a post I made on another forum to save me from having to tap the lot out again!
>>>Definitely a random one here- I was selected (at random) to be the subject of a self administered COVID19 test. Guys I advise you to give it the swerve if that particular ball comes your way. A swab has to be rubbed up and down for five seconds each side on your tonsils each side of the uvula. There's a catch- you must not allow it to come into contact with your teeth, gums, tongue or lips. I realised that varifocals would only allow a view of my chin, so I dug out my readers, but it was too dark in there, so I asked Best Beloved to deploy one of my inspection lamps from work (the actual test has to be self administered to rule out contamination.) That just blinded/dazzled me, so I held the lamp in my left hand and made free with the swab using my right. I managed OK on my right hand side, but my two attempts on the left resulted in wild gagging. There's no way anyone can guarantee freedom from contamination in that scenario. This is an entirely natural physiological response to FOD at the back of the throat, so no one with half a brain should be surprised. similarly- indeed who would ever think that's a good self administering test to offer to John Q. Public? Having got thus far, I then had to poke said swab up each nostril in turn until discomfort set in (!) and then rotate for five seconds. Flippin' 'eck!
Good news- it turns out I'm Corona virus negative, but the thing is- Best Beloved has never been offered a test at work (the operating theatre) and nor has any of her colleagues. You couldn't make it up really could you? Still 'n' all, it's her last day before retirement this Wednesday coming, so hey-ho. The end of an era then? 42 years service within The NHS. I'm pleased for her. She "done" her bit!>>>
I imagine John has passing contact with potential virus vehicles too, so as always- stay safe Folks. If you do feel "under the weather", the silly English hippy prescribes beer. 'Tis efficacious in every way ;<D

I have heard the test is very gagging. And that's when someone else is inflicting it. Can't imagine self inflicting it. As you say it would very hard to not contaminate it. I'd rather cut myself and do labs that way. No gag reflex involved.
Good to know you've been cleared for Covid. Sounds like the NHS is really dropping the ball not testing all their workers. 42 years is remarkable service, your wife is a trooper for sure.
