All - I rewound this P-90 this weekend for a colleague. It came out of his '56 Les Paul (Standard) and needed some help. It seems that someone rewound the pickup years ago and it just didn't sound that great. He also wanted something hotter and different...cool. Here are a couple of points: 1. Before you rewind or repair a pickup like this, make sure it has been worked-on before prior to opening it up or stripping wire. It is worth more to collectors if it is completely original, even if it is not working. Get a replacement pickup for that old guitar. 2. Putting more wire on a P-90 will make it produce more AC current, but it also reduces the high-frequency content of the output. 3. Take photos of the pickup and guitar prior to removing anything. Photos from all sides of the pickup makes reassembly much, much easier. It is easy to become confused when it is time to reassemble it! More to follow, John

This is a real cliff hanger John. Hope you got some video of this rewind. Not to mention, well I guess I am mentioning it, you should do some video of winding my strat pups.
I know at least one guy that thinks that would be cool.

I have some trade secrets I don’t want to share, and I think that a winding video might be kind of boring! However, here is a shot of your pickups. Still have to complete the testing regimen, but they do look nice. John
