All - I had the honor of playing an all-original, one-owner 1954 Stratocaster today.
I'm still a little woozy...lol...but what a great guitar. I was surprised at how big the neck was, but I have to say I was shocked at how familiar it felt. It felt like a newer Strat, but really had a great vibe and sound. It was in great shape, and didn't look like one of those fake relics you see everywhere.
Bottom Line: Mr. Fender hit a home run in 1954.

That's way cool John. I would love to have played it too. A '50s Strat is all I wanted once. I changed to desiring an early '60s one because CLF had honed the design slightly and after a decade in production they were slightly better made (not to mention more obtainable!)
These days, it'd have to be a blackguard, but I'm going to have to make do with my copy of Nacho's bible!

That would be way fun, only just recently come around to the idea that having a Strat would be a cool thing. Love the feel and sound, still not crazy about tuning up three times to get things stable.
