i have a Gibson GK-55 i bought in 1979 new. i am having a hard time getting a value on this. can some one please help me? thanks, nick

The worth of any guitar depends on a number of factors. The selling price, however, is based on what someone is willing to give for it. Based on this, I believe you could sell a GK-55 for about what a lower-line '79 Les Paul sells for.
Guitar prices are outrageous right now -- I recently saw a used MIM Fender Strat on eBay that sold for $329...and you can get a new one at MusiciansFriend.com for $399! You could put your GK-55 on eBay, claim it is super rare, and you might be surprised what you could get for it from someone looking for the grail.

One sold locally for around $450 last summer. It had some junky chinese pickups in it and was generally needing a lot of love. Cool guitar, but I was trying to sell them an old blown up Kustom bass amp! That was my financial situation then, ha!
