At least to me. I saw this on craigslist vaccaro guitarAs soon as I saw the picture I said that's a Kramer aluminum neck. a little googling and indeed, Mr. Vaccaro was the founder and owner of Kramer until it was sold to gibson. for a few short years he produced guitars under his own name out of his shop in Neptune, NJ. I just bought a guitar off craigslist - my wife would freak if I jumped on this one. not going to do it but ... still I want it!

Didn't Mark Farner play one of those for years? Too bad we don't know a bit more about it, like it's age, it it's all original, etc.
I think I saw an article in Vintage Guitar about those 5 or more years ago.

Cool guitar!
Farner played a lot of different guitars. I remember he was a Microfrets guy back in the early 70s. He was also an early-adopter of the Parker Fly.

The ad was reposted yesterday. Gotta be tough asking $800 for a guitar few people have ever heard of. given its lineage I would assume its a player but at that price I would expect only collectors would be interested.
would love to see some data on asking and selling prices on our local list. Some guy has been trying to sell a bandmaster amp and cabinet for $2,400 for at least a year. sheesh.

I don't think the price is too far off, but a hard sell. There are not a lot of buyers for the Kramers at that price. The Bandmaster guy is dreaming!!!

I see a lot of guitars and amps that many think are worth gold. I love it when I see so many under the title "Vintage" Just because it's old does not mean it's "vintage" But I guess I can't blame people for trying to make a buck.
But I see old Fender amps on CL all the time. We also had an old Band Master Fender amp here for sale. He to has had it on there a long time and In my thinking, I think he wanting way too much for it.
Seen, a cool Tele and PRS I would like to have as well. But way out of reach for me. For me to spend a lot on something It would have to be something I really wanted really bad, and I would have to do my research on it to make sure it is worth buying.
there is a guy selling an amp on CL I would like to own. But for a 100 dollars more I can buy it brand new... Now I know tube amps as I have found are sometimes better to buy them used. Because they have been broke in, but in many cases I end up putting in new tubes depending on how old the tube amp is. I also learned not to trust people when they say they put in all new tubes. Some people don't know what "all New tubes" mean.
But like buying anything buyer beware. I am not afraid to ask all kinds of questions. On amps I am also not afraid to crank them up to make sure that everything is working like it should. Nor am I afraid to look under the hood to make sure they did replace or not replace the tubes.
Same way with guitars. There was a guy selling a 1975 Fender Strat here on CL. He says it's all "Original" But when I asked if I could take the neck off to see the numbers he did not want me to. (I was looking at this for friend of mine) So when he did not want me to do that I asked him if he had any paper work on the guitar. He said no. I told him then I'm not a buyer at the price you are asking. I am not going to buy any so call "Original" "vintage" guitar blind folded. Learned my lesson on that a few years ago.
Even on "Gibson" guitars...or so called Gibson. if the person won't let you look under the hood then I would stay away from it. There are so many fakes out there.
I now run numbers at one of the loco guitar stores in town. They have a data base that I can't seem to get hold of on line. It may because they are dealers. But anyway don't buy anything with the word "Original" Or "Vintage" attached to it. until you check it out.
Also know this. If you buy a 5,000 dollar Les Paul at, lets say GC new. Please know you can't walk out the door and get 10,000 for the guitar. I know this guy that thinks that way, and ever time he buys an expensive guitar like that, he thinks he can get a lot more for it. I tell him all the time. No it's like buying a car. Once you walk out the door it's not worth what you just gave for it. I have seen this guy buy high end guitars and turn right around and try selling them back to the dealer for a whole lot less than what he bought it for. One time I tried to buy one of the guitars he had, and would not sell it to me for a price better than GC would have given him for it. He did just that, he sold it back to GC for a lot less than what I offered.
I don't get it... but if someone wants a guitar (no mater the price) that's OK, just know you won't get what you paid for it until some years have passed.
OK that's some of my thoughts, Guess I'll quit for now. LOL! EB

Your not being unreasonable to ask to take the neck off. I've seen it happen at guitar shows where there is a lot of money on the line. Look at the pots and check out the neck heel. There are a lot of fakery going on. I see them around here a lot. The obvious ones anyways!

There are tons of fake vintage Fenders out there...and some of them are very convincing. Do your homework!
