This one I'm pretty excited about. With the import acoustic neck resets I've done being doweled and epoxied this "hide glued, dove tailed" reset should be a real pleasure. Check out the intro video to see it as it came to my shop. It's sounds great and is fun to play just as it is so it will be amazing when finished.

Dane, I see you too get guitars that people have miss treated. Glad you are working on getting this one back up and playing like to should.
I just did an acoustic for a guy, that someone tried to do a neck reset. (Bad job) the customer did not want me to try and fix the neck. So I told him I would do what I could with it. so it turned out the all the frets from the 12th fret up to the 20th were all buzzing. I filed them frets almost off before they would quit buzzing. The frets were so low my fret file could not re-crown them, I had to do that all by hand. But once done she now can be played on the high frets without buzzing. I told him if he ever needed it fixed right to let me know. But it would cost more than the guitar is worth. But on this guitar when it was reset, the fret board from the sound hole to around the 12th fret is swollen. When looking down the neck you can see it plane as day. But he didn't want to spend the money to fix the right way. so I did the best I could with it. At least he was happy. It was real hard on me not to take it apart and fix it the way it should have been done form the start. Oh He would not tell me who did the reset. But it was sloppy.
Keep up the good work, Dane! EB

Eddie, I know my Aria won't look much different than it does now in another 30 years but I'm real good to my instruments. A lot of folks just look at guitars as tools, and with this in mind and considering this guitar is 65 years old, I'd say it could be a lot worse. I'm thinking of that TV Yellow LP Junior with the turn buckles on the neck joint. You know the one I'm talking about.

HA! Yes I do know the one. Here lately I have been working on a few guitars that were just abused. In fact I just did a set up on a 2014 Les Paul that looks like it's 10 years old. It just gets to me how people can spend so much for a guitar and treat it like it's nothing. But oh well keeps my hobby going. I just met a guy the other day wanting to be his guitar tech. But I turned it down. I think you are like me. I just don't like to see guitars fall into disrepair. Just like some of the cars I saved over the years. EB

Dane - nice work. Thanks for sharing. Did you have one of these to help out? It is a machine Martin uses to fit necks! Lol www.musictrades.com/news5.htmlJohn

John, a machine like that would take all fun out of it. I'm going to take video of the removal and reset process and if I don't do anything to stupid I'll post it.

This is the third time I've posted this vid and the only way it works is as a guest posting. But anyway this vid is on removing the bridge with the LMI heat blanket. Subscribe, like all the YouTube stuff.

Cool stuff Dane. I made a jig almost like what you have to help reglue on a bridge on an acoustic. I like this over trying to use clamps. EB
