All - I bought a carcass of a Les Paul years ago, and I've finally started to work on it. I want to make it special and really cool. Recently I plugged the pickup routes and installed a new maple top and binding on the body. I reshaped the headstock, installed an inlay and decal, and got it ready for tuners. Here is a "so far" photo. Yes, it has already been a lot of work! John Attachments:

Looking really good! Will you be putting in some for your custom pickups in it? I have been really busy again working on guitars for customers. Plus I am training a young guy, once a week on how to work on guitars and how to build guitars. He gave me his story and I decided to help him out. He does work around the house and in return I show him how to work on guitars and how to make them. Really cool young man. OK a little rabbit trail. EB

Eddie - I'm planning some cool pickups for this rig, and some un-Les Paul design cues.
This is one of those " But I got it cheap" projects that will take about 1,000 hours in labor to complete! Lol

Yes they all become a labor of love. Wish I had a dollar for every guitar I built. I would be resting high on the hog by now. LOL! EB

I finally got the neck fitting properly, the front pickup cavity routed, and the R3 nut fitted to the neck. Progress is slow, but it will be a pretty unique guitar when I get it finished. John Attachments:

A Floyd on a LP, yeah that's a tad unique.

Progress is faster than some of my projects! Yes, on the Floyd.

I saw a custom shop build for Joe Perry with a floyd and only one pickup in the bridge position with only one control knob. It looked pretty cool.

Chezvoz ... I saw Joe Perry's Les Paul and I considered a single pickup...very cool. However, I had to have a neck pickup for those bluesy solos! Lol

I sure do like the guitar John. Years ago, I loved the Floyd Rose trims. But now I have gotten so use to not using them. Really don't know what made me that way. But I think it's because I have changed the way I play. So the way I play today I use a lot of palming, and the hard tails have a little more comfort on my hand. Well that's my excuse anyway. HA! But I am digging the Floyd Rose on this build. Hope you put up a video of it when done. EB

I'm going to be starting a neck through Tele soon. I Hope to have it done by summers end. I already have a buyer for it. so I guess I better get busy on it.

Bring it on Eddie. My boss's secretary has another life as guitarist in an all girlie band and they get to play low-billing at all the big UK festivals. She has a hand made all rosewood neck-through Tele and it's just the coolest axe. Your creation should be neat too.
