Got a call this week from a family member who had "an old guitar" he wanted me to take a look at. When I got to his house, this is what I found - a 1966 Silvertone in immaculate (nearly unplayed) condition. The case and all case candy was immaculate too. After regaining my composure, I convinced him to let me take it and do some general maintenance on it. The strings were not original, so I put some strings on it and checked the electronics...then I plugged it in and played "Wipeout"! Sadly, I have to take it back this weekend. Stay on the lookout..there are lots of cool guitars still hiding out there! John Attachments:

that is a cool looking guitar. I had a silvertone semi-hollow w/ mini humbuckers back when I was 15. I did not respect it b/c of course I wanted a 335 or a les paul. however, it was a very good guitar and like so many others, wish I had hung onto it. I play with a bunch of old guys like myself who did keep their old guitars. One guy has a 1957 gold top w/ p90s and another guy has a 1966 335 that is amazing. of course they don't bring them to band practice but the next time I get over to their place I will take some pictures to post.

Hey John, I just got this old 1966 Kay (solid state amp) Someone covered it in Leopard fir. White and black,no less. But it has this funky MOJO about it. It sound pretty cool, for an Old amp. It super lite too. I'll get some pictures up later on. But If anyone is interested I may sell it. EB

That is the Harmony Silvertone H19 Silhouette. Great guitar. I bought both of mine from the flea market in London Ky several years ago. One is a project, the other looks like a project, but plays just fine. I installed a schaller roller bridge on it so the tremolo would work better. Plus the schaller string spacing can adjust down to that narrow of a neck.
The pickups sound great in those and the necks are kinda fast, and narrow. There is a date stamped in ink under the pickguard and then you can date it by the american pots in those.
Your relatives guitar looks dead mint! Stashed away somewhere. It's a great thing to run across.
Thanks for the hope!

Rock on, Chris. Date stamp under the pickguard is Feb 25, 1966. Dane - no sprouting, or wear, with the frets! John Attachments:
