I just got this guitar, and it has a piece of wood under the neck as thick as a quarter but as wide as the neck basically..the strings from the first to the ninth are playable with good action but towards the 12th and on the strings raise up... so I took off the wood and tried laying it down but it just won't sit straight for some reason seems as if bowed around 13 and 14th fret..please help

What is the brand and model? The normal challenge on a neck is with frets 5-8 and the upper frets you are having a challenge with. Sounds like the neck has an up-bow...a hump in the upper section. Check the neck -- is it straight? See if you can see a hump. You might be able to adjust it out with the truss rod. Check it and get back with us. John

Also I tried the truss rod, It's seems the neck just doesn't fit in the slot, possibly bowed

Koroa, if you are using the proboards app and you are on a mobile you can tap the camera icon on your reply screen then follow the prompts. On the regular forum in the reply box you will see an picture icon, click or tap that then post a link to your pic there. You will need to upload your pics to a photo host site first. Kind of a pain, yes but a good pic really is worth a 1,000 words.

there could be a hump in the wood it self.neck or fret board or both. I just re did an after market neck that had a bad bow in the fret board. I had to take out the frets. Leveled the fret board as close as I could get it, then sanded it with a radius sanding block. Re cut the fret slots and put in new fret. Not the neck is awesome. NO fret buzz anywhere on the neck. But I would check the neck out with a straight edge see where the bow is. Try and adjust it with the truss rod to see if I could get the hump out. If still no luck then I would look at fixing the neck like I did. Or buy another neck.
