This is really the conclusion for now. The auto store paint was a favorable way to paint these guitars. Though last minute the owner asked me to go ahead and spray the headstock face! I got a bug in it! It buffed out. The Melody Makers owner was really happy with the paint job. I was happy with it. The bass is an on going project that will be shelved for awhile longer. I taught a friend how to fret guitars on it a couple of years ago, whats another couple years. I have a surf monster guitar and a vintage Kay Speed Demon guitar that needs a custom paint job. I plan on taking some more time with those.

Turned out very nice, it's a good look. Although I really like the first attempt with the big flake.

Me too. I sent a pic to the owner. He liked it, but it was kind of a not what he asked for type of thing. That paint job will happen on one of my projects someday.

The class I went through last week had a good section on finishing. The guy who taught it did three years as a painter at Gibson. He uses DuPont auto paints for his refin jobs.
