Cool. They got it that far along without drilling wires channels? Seems odd.
That neck is a good example of a rosewood fret board badly in need of treatment.

They routered out the back pocket for the knobs but never connected all the pockets didn't put knob holes in and didn't go all the way through with the output jack hole

That is odd why they didn't finish the guitar... Hum... Maybe it had too many wood flaws in it or something like that. But I did years ago get an old Jackson body that had never been built into a guitar. The body had never even had a finish on it. It was cut back in the 80's. It too didn't have any of the pot holes drilled, but did have the control cavity routed.
Strange how some of these guitars never get built... Makes me wonder how many get through away or even shredded.

Is there a way to remove the clear coat without taking off the color or is it all or nothing there's some deep scratches and dents although I guess I could repaint it a different color I think I wanna stay with the sunburst though

You can try sanding the clear off. If you strippers they will also take off the stain. But this is more than likely not stain. So in any case a stripper will take it off. If it were me I would try sanding it. If you mess up well you mess up. Do the scratches go all the way to the wood?

I think maybe one or two scratches go to the wood the one dent definitely does

I saw that sale at GFS. This might be a good guitar to practice your relic-ing skills on. Always nice to have guitar you don't worry about getting a little rash on.

Idk I kinda feel a guitar should be reliced through use it's like buying new jeans with the holes already cut into them

I sometimes use the relic process to cover an "oops" on a guitar I'm building!

Well that's what I was thinking since it's already banged up a bit.

Started working on sanding off the finish was interested to see how the wood underneath looked I think there's a veneer on top so I'm gonna have to hand sand that it's kinda hard to see the grain in the pictures but does anyone have an idea on what kind of wood it is Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Attachments:

And I was thinking about wet sanding the finish off the front would water be fine I don't want the wood to swell or I've read to use mineral oil any thoughts on that or is dry sanding fine
